About Us

The Souk is a vibrant marketplace featuring artisans and products that are both socially unique globally and handcrafted locally. We provide an inclusive, ethical, and welcoming environment in the heart of Downtown Whitby.

We partner with local vendors and newcomers to help them use their skills and talents to create employment for themselves. Every product in our establishment gives back to the community!

Our cafe features traditionally made chai and coffee from around the world and baked goods made by local/newcomer Canadian bakers.

The Souk is a community. Our purpose is to provide a safe space for local events and classes, such as book clubs, painting classes, tatreez embroidery, and our Darzee sewing program.

Darzee Sewing Program

Welcome to the new home for Darzee. The program has been awarded the Jane Goodall price for volunteerism, and was featured as an exhibit at Nuit Blanche.

Darzee is a social enterprise dedicated to helping newcomer Canadian women develop and hone their sewing, embroidery, crochet, and textile art skills. The objective is to market these skills to the community at large as a means of earning income.

Our 8 week training program helps women practice the trade, develop and learn how to run their own business, and presents the opportunity to work on sewing projects that will be featured in our store.

The program's aim is to instill confidence and financial independence in women.

We are so excited to have this permanent space where we can host the program and showcase the talents of these wonderful women!

Reh'Ma

Welcome to the new home of Reh'ma Community Services. A registered, not-for-profit, organization.

Reh'ma Community Services was founded in 1991 to serve the needs of the ever-growing aging and newcomer population.

Reh'ma has made a positive impact on many lives by bringing together people of different ethic and religious groups through teamwork and dialogue at both the local and national level. Through the years, Reh'ma has created innovative programs such as "Halal Meals on Wheels", which is now run by Muslim Welfare Centre, Seniors Network for Integration, the Saheli Social Networking Group for Senior Women, Senior's Overcoming Isolation (SOS), Digital Training, Scarborough Senior's Socials, and the Senior Business Boomers Program. We have a new Senior Yoga Training program currently underway!

Reh'ma's hope is to continue to serve seniors and be a source of light across the GTA.

We welcome collaboration within the region and look forward to more programming at our location.
